Celebrating 2024's success Careers, Alumni & Industry Relations Explore our impact It is with great enthusiasm that I present the 2024 Annual Report for the Careers, Alumni, and Industry Relations Department (CAIR) at RMIT Vietnam. This year has been a remarkable journey filled with innovation, impactful initiatives, and collaborative achievements that have strengthened our mission to empower students, alumni, and industry partners alike.

From fostering sustainable practices at flagship events like the one-year-long campaign Sạch Sành Sanh, Careers Festival and Green Economy Forum & Exhibition, to driving inclusivity through the Accessibility Design Competition, we have consistently pushed boundaries to create meaningful change. Through transformative mentorship programs, career development workshops, and strategic partnerships with industry leaders, we have equipped our students with the tools to excel in an ever-evolving world.

Our achievements this year are a testament to the dedication of my teams and the unwavering support of our industry partners. Sustainability in Action Embracing sustainability as a core principle and pioneering the way within the RMIT community by integrating sustainable approaches into our events, we took pride in reducing our environmental impact while enhancing the audience experience and raising awareness among both internal and external participants. Careers Festival GEFE 2024 The flagship annual event of CAIR continued its mission of showcasing diverse job opportunities, connecting students with professionals, and paving the way for raising awareness about sustainable careers among students. Recognizing the challenges of young talents in navigating long-term career paths, through this event we instilled the message that careers and skills are the work-in-progress that can be reshaped daily.

Our commitment to minimizing environmental impact during the event was significant. We pioneered the use of cardboard materials for the CAIR booth, reduced the companies' booth backdrop dimensions by 40% and partnered with XanhSM to promote eco-friendly transportation to the event.

Green Economy With a resounding presence at GEFE 2024 during the 3-day exhibition, RMIT's booth captivated visitors' attention by showcasing sustainability student projects. From smart waste classification systems to transformative fabric projects and the highlights of vibrant green campaigns ongoing at RMIT, our students' work and presentations truly shone as beacons of innovation and solidified RMIT University Vietnam's reputation as a leading university making an impact in Vietnam.

RMIT's academics also participated in sustainability discussions during the conference sessions, further emphasizing RMIT's commitment to sustainability at this event.

The successful conclusion of the GEFE 2024 saw over 8,000 visitors, including industry partners, students, and government VIPs.
Forum & Exhibition
Community Impact This competition has attracted students, academics, and industry partners both nationally and internationally, driving awareness and innovation towards creating 'A World that Works for All.' Season 4 of the competition not only saw increased participation among students and industry partners but also a rise in passion and innovation levels among the students. This success also contributed to RMIT students winning Microsoft's AI for Accessibility Hackathon 2024.

In commemoration of Vietnamese Women's Day, CAIR initiated a panel discussion themed "Women In Action". The event brought together women from various backgrounds, including a pilot, a writer/coach, and a businesswoman. Attendees from all walks of life gathered to learn from and be inspired by these successful women.

By fostering community engagement and celebrating diverse contributions, we can create a more inclusive and innovative world. Every effort, big or small, contributes to a brighter future for all. Let's continue to drive positive change together!

Accessibility Design Competition 126 Participants 42 Teams 25 Universities 73 Industry Partners In its fourth year of making a positive impact, the Accessibility Design Competition (ADC) continues to promote inclusivity for individuals with disabilities through its theme "A World That Works For All" and the innovative initiatives of its participants.

In collaboration with RMIT Wellbeing, P&G, and Microsoft, the competition engaged with industry partners from 35 companies, and mentors from disability support organizations or individuals with disabilities. The ADC Finale also welcomed 18 judges who are top managers from large enterprises such as Puratos, UNICEF, and the British Consulate-General.

With a focus on creating a music library platform for individuals who are blind or have visual impairments, The Great Musica from Fulbright University emerged as the ADC 2024 winner. Meanwhile, the RepectAbility team from RMIT University secured victory in the Microsoft ASEAN AI Accessibility Hackathon 2024 Vietnam with their AI-integrated glasses project, enabling the translation of body language and facial expressions into accessible feedback.
Women in Action In collaboration with Auscham, CAIR organised Women in Action to commemorate Vietnamese Women’s Day. This event brought together female speakers from diverse backgrounds and professions to share their career experiences, discuss workplace challenges in a general context, and specifically for women.

The inspirational stories shared by the speakers sparked numerous exchanges and interactions among the audience, creating an atmosphere filled with empowerment and inspiration.

Through this initiative, we aspire to a future where women find boundless support and empowerment to shine brightly and achieve their dreams!

Career 40 Career development remains the heart of our services. We customize and create specific programs for each target group, ranging from first-year students to fresh graduates, to ensure they are well-prepared at every stage of their academic journey. A standout feature of the COP was CV360 - an instant CV review tool that seamlessly integrated AI and Applicant Tracking Systems, providing detailed feedback on a significant number of CVs. This enhancement has further elevated the effectiveness and impact of our career support services.
Career Mentoring 225 In 2024, Career Mentoring prioritized reactivating former mentors and enhancing engagement quality over quantity. We celebrated a year of significant strides in diversity and inclusion, offering enriched mentorship opportunities at RMIT. 30% of new mentors joining the program were RMIT Alumni.

These mentors hailed from diverse roles and represented organisations like PwC, Nestlé, Heineken Vietnam, ensuring that mentees benefited from a broad spectrum of expertise and insights. Our diverse mentor-mentee pairings provided tailored support, with all mentees reporting improved career knowledge and over 90% expressing satisfaction.
On the mentors' side, 96% rated meetings as satisfactory or better, appreciating the proactive and respectful approach of the mentees.

Throughout 2024, 90 mentors and 520 students engaged in various Mentoring events. Programs such as Leadership Express, Career Inside Out, and the Global Business Career Fast Track demonstrated the program's success in blending mentorship with practical networking and career development activities.

Empower Career Journey 2024 was an incredible year of collaboration to integrate career development with mentoring and internship preparation to boost student employability.
One highlight of the team was the Careers Festival, featuring the Careers Inside Out series and Bootcamp. Students were eager engage with mentors and passionately pitch their innovative sustainable solutions to Maersk and Highlands Coffee. The Job Shop was also uplifted with digital devices and more space to support 2,490 students as the first point of contact for careers support.
A huge kudos to our dedicated team for uniting towards common goals of supporting students to gain the knowledge, skills, experience, and opportunities they need to achieve their career goals.

The Career Fasttrack Program brought employers and industry experts into courses to mentor student groups, covering professional skills, career pathways, and networking. The Meet Your Employer Program provided students with workplace visits and networking opportunities with HR professionals.
Looking ahead, 2025 will introduce the Career Roadmap, aligning workshops and initiatives with the Explore, Develop, and Transition stages, and enhancing existing programs to further support students’ professional growth and career readiness.

Enhancing resilient partnerships in Vietnam Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with industry experts to support schools' teaching activities has always been the guiding principle for the CAIR department in general and the Industry Relations team in particular. This plays an important role in realizing RMIT Vietnam's Knowledge with Action strategy.

Furthermore, our own initiatives, such as the Industry Talk series featuring ZaloPay and Kashew, and Career Talk sessions with Tiffany & Co. Vietnam, where top-level executives engaged, significantly enriched students with invaluable real-world insights and experiences.

A noteworthy development in our 2024 activities has been the extension of Career Talk discussions to encompass the non-governmental and non-profit sectors. These sessions included prominent organisations such as Save The Children, Teach for Vietnam, MSD, and CNCF, providing students with a deeper understanding of thriving within this field and underscoring our dedication to amplifying community impact.
Cultivate robust partnerships in the region Our efforts extend beyond borders. As a new initiative incorporated in this year's Careers Festival, this unique experience allowed a diverse group of 10 students to engage directly with leading industry partners such as Google, L'Oréal, Schaeffler, and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, exploring cutting-edge sustainability practices.

The program also included a Future-led Design Thinking workshop with students from the National University of Singapore and networking activities with industry professionals.

This exclusive experience allowed participants to gain a holistic understanding of sustainability in business, develop problem-solving and innovation skills, and recognize the importance of continuous learning for career growth. Leading this initiative has marked a significant milestone in our collaboration with essential stakeholders in the Region, opening doors to a multitude of potential partnerships in the future.
International Industry Learning Tour
Over the past two years, our strategic focus on digital transformation has significantly enhanced the efficiency of the Careers & Industry Relations Department. A central component of this initiative is Industry Hub, our custom-built platform designed to streamline daily operations.

In its second phase, the platform introduced a new classification Industry Partnered Learning system, extending its functionality to allow Schools to record and manage Industry Partnered Learning activities.

We have significantly enhanced our ability to stay connected with each other. Our alumni have made substantial contributions to learning and teaching. Participation in our community activities has soared, creating a vibrant and engaged network. We have hosted impactful events that have strengthened our reputation and connections. Together, we have achieved so much, and it's all thanks to your continuous support and dedication.

In collaboration with Vietharvest, Cook For a Cause aims to raise awareness of food waste reduction at the household level. 100 meals were made and donated to the underprivileged at two shelters in Ho Chi Minh City. Creative Artwork Contest From June 24 to July 14, RMIT alumni, staff, and students participated in the “Walking to Plant Trees” initiative, where one tree was planted for every 10 kilometers walked.

Through the collective efforts of our community, we have achieved a remarkable feat, covering thousands of kilometers and planting over 1,000 trees at Binh Chau Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve and Phuc Tien Primary School in Hanoi. This initiative showcases the power of unity in creating a greener environment.
Food Drive Showcasing companies Duy Tan Factory tour 758 Participants Sach Sanh Sanh Campaign OUR WHAT Walking to Plant Tree Sạch - Sành - Sanh (Clean, Clever, Continuity) is an abbreviation of "Ăn sạch, Sống sạch, Trường sanh", meaning Eat clean, Live clever and Continuity. If we adopt good habits such as reducing food waste and reusing and recycling more, we will live longer lives, and so will our future. Food Drive Cooking For A Cause Cooking For A Cause Trees planted Walking to Plant Tree Food Drive is a fruitful partnership with VietHarvest, in which we collected almost 300 kg of dried food donations from RMIT staff, students, and alumni.

HOW WE DID IT Through strategic partnerships with local businesses to reduce food waste, fundraising for reputable foundations actively supporting climate change initiatives, and raising awareness through educational campaigns and workshops. Green Business Showcase Creative Artwork Contest (CAC) In 2024, season 2 of CAC kicks off the campaign “Sạch Sành Sanh—Clean, Clever, Continuity.” The campaign aims to foster awareness among young people about sustainability and green consumption.

CAC serves as a playground for RMIT students, alumni, and all public participants to showcase their talent, passion, and innovative perspectives through various forms of artistic expression.

Green Business Showcase The Alumni Green Business Showcase 2024 features a wide range of products and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development. It covers various industries such as agriculture, food, green energy, new materials, and recycling technology, catering to both B2B and B2C markets.

It aims to feature the initiatives toward sustainability and improving ESG practices in Vietnam, inspire every individuals to go green and live green in this fast paced world.
