What is the Career Ready Award?

The Career Ready Award (CRA) is RMIT’s structured, tiered badging program designed to help students build career confidence, professional skills, and real-world experience alongside their academic studies.

The award provides a clear roadmap to becoming work ready. Through career events, experiential learning, reflection, and real workplace exposure, students graduate with more than a qualification: they graduate with evidence of their skills, experience, and professional growth.

Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students across disciplines and campuses, the award recognises both structured learning and practical experience.

The full award represents approximately 100 hours of career development engagement, completed flexibly over the duration of a student's degree.

Requirements for the Bronze Award

Attend 5 designated career-related events (e.g., Careers Festival, company visits, industry panels, workshops) Complete a structured reflection on their learning and professional growth Submit evidence of participation

Approximately 10 hours

Module Learning Outcomes

Recognize the value of networking and professional engagement by identifying the purpose and benefits of attending events like Careers Festival, company visits, and industry panel discussions. Demonstrate an understanding of professional etiquette and professional branding by applying appropriate behaviors during career-related events (e.g. dress code, punctuality, communication style). Display confidence and professional communication skills by engaging in career-related events, enabling them to make more informed career decisions and expand their professional network. Show active listening and interpersonal skills by engaging with professionals, asking thoughtful questions, and observing real-world communication styles in professional settings. Reflect critically on their engagement in career events, articulating what they learned, how it relates to their career development, and how they might apply the insights or feedback received.

Outcomes

Upon completion, students earn: Bronze Badge.

Students leave Bronze with greater clarity about career pathways and increased confidence engaging with industry.
